Brannigan Dastardly was born in the summer of 2007. The band, out of North Royalton, OH, was formed through the collaboration of lead vocalist and guitarist Joel Pendery, 22 and Rhythm guitarist Nic Prellwitz, 21. The name Brannigan Dastardly started as a joke between Nic and Joel. It never was supposed to be a serious name, but when their original name, Royce, was already taken, they decided to use Brannigan Dastardly because of its mysterious and somewhat mischievous connotations.
